With temperatures near -50F a group of outgoing passengers wait to board their
plane.  Breath hangs in the air and contrails form on the ground.     February 11, 2008
At temperatures of -50F, airplane contrails form on the ground at the South
Pole's altitude of 9,300 feet above sea level.                      February 11, 2008
